Terry grew up in Tivoli, and went to Red Hook schools. She has been making art in one form or another since she was six years old, and makes most of it independently. She took many art classes and felt that school was restrictive, yet some perspective exercises she shared from her early sketchbooks clearly influenced aspects of her largest pieces.

Sketchbook drawings, and needlepoint continue to inspire her magical ball point pen drawings. They are 30”x 40” and bleed to the edges of the paper. The piece behind her portrait is a close up, as the scale and magic of her marks do not translate well in photos. When asked if there were any hidden objects or meanings in the layers of her work, she just laughed and said "if there were it wasn't intentional."

I begin my large pieces with a ruler, some drafting tools, and some perspective lines. The rest of the process includes many layers of colored pens and markers. It takes me about a month to finish a drawing. My process is pretty much random and that helps me relax. Since 2000, I has been drawing on 30"x40" inch paper and have created approximately 30 of these drawings.
