Joanne Gelb

  • Joanne Gelb loves her home in Rhinebeck, NY. She finds the people, the Artists and the environment of the Hudson Valley inspiring.

Her work has been in the Tivoli Artists Gallery, WAAM, the Woodstock School of Art, and the Morton Library in Rhinecliff. Joanne had a piece accepted to the Dorsky Museum at SUNY New Paltz in 2025. Her Studio is filled with wood found on walks, leftover pieces from home construction projects, flowers she’s dried and any interesting item she comes across and thinks… “I could make something with this”.

  • Untrained, unschooled and uninfluenced by the art world, my work remains uncooked by cultural and artistic influences. Many Artists tell you what moved them or how they were inspired. I leave its up to the viewer to find meaning or attraction. I’ve worked in many mediums - Collage, Mixed Media, Abstract painting, Printmaking. I am presently focussed on working with Encaustics.

My practice is driven by instinct, curiosity, and an openness to discovery.
